Italian citizens resident in London
The Italian passport is issued to Italian citizens registered with AIRE in the consular district of London. Registration with AIRE is what places your file with the Consulate here rather than with a comune in Italy, and it is the first thing we check and, where needed, put right.
Before the appointment
What the Consulate requires
The Consulate General sets the requirements and the fee, and these can change. In practice an application or a renewal calls for:
- —registration with AIRE in the London consular district, with your civil-status records up to date
- —an appointment, booked through the Consulate’s system
- —the application form, completed and signed
- —two identical passport photographs meeting the ICAO standard, on a white background
- —your previous Italian passport, or a report of loss or theft where it cannot be produced
- —payment of the consular fee by British debit card
- —a prepaid Special Delivery envelope where the passport is to be returned by post
